For the inspiration of
George Washington Carver, we give thanks!
This great Peacemaker lived a life of asking & listening.

Look about you. Take hold of the things that are here. Let them talk to you.
You learn to talk to them.
~ George Washington Carver

From stolen slave & sickly child to "The Plant Dr." by age 7 and one of the most celebrated scientists and botanists of all time, George Washinton Carver led a life of service that changed the lives of countless others.

It is not the style of clothes one wears, neither the kind of automobile one drives, nor the amount of money one has in the bank, that counts. These mean nothing. It is simply service that measures success. ~ George Washinton Carver

George Washington Carver was sometimes called "The Man Who Talked To Flowers". And indeed he was. By talking and listening to plants, he devised hundreds of uses for the peanut, sweet potato and soy beans. He helped save the southern cotton farmers by introducing new ways and means of farming. He vowed to always help, "the farthest man down." And he did. And he always had a fresh flower in his button hole. Amaryllis were his favorite flowers. He was dedicated to learning and took himself to many, many schools as a boy. As a college professor, he would start his day at 4:00 a.m. walking in the woods and listening and talking to God. He then would enter his labratory known as "God's Little Workshop" . He was a great artist and loved to paint flowers the most. He could have had a career as an artist but instead he chose to help people with his gift with plants. Later in life, he turned down lots of money time and again to stay where he was at Tuskeegee University and continue his work helping "the farthest man down" and listening to God ...
How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these. ~ George Washington Carver

I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour,
if we will only tune in.” ~ George Washington Carver
